DESCRIPTION
Despite the austere composition of the piece as a whole, the Rosalia door, with its delicately carved door knockers in the centre of the piece, is rich with phytomorphic decoration, and the two large masks tie the piece together as a whole.
The inclusion of two openings in the upper part of the door, and the use of an inlay technique in both the upper and the lower parts of the piece, creates a decorative lightness, in which the elements which draw inspiration from classical sources and the contemporary elements co-exist in harmony and attention is drawn to the two central panels of the door, delicately carved to create a subtle chiaroscuro effect.
